Auroras
(northern lights) are very rare in North Carolina, but on Sunday night,
November 7, 2004, members of Astronomy class on a field trip to the
Blue Ridge Parkway, happened to be greeted by this magnificent display
of Aurora Borealis at about 8:00 pm. This was viewed
from Craggy Pinnacle Parking Area, elevation approx. 5700 feet above
sea level. This same auroral display was seen from parts of
Warren Wilson College campus.
