Moonrise in Swannanoa and New Zealand
Swannanoa, Sept. 18, 2005
As an experiment in
Astronomy class, Julia Travis made a succession of photographs snapping
a frame every 15 sec. These pictures were selected to make an
animated image showing the moon rising. Before you view the
animated picture, the reader should predict the path that the moon
follows. The reader should select one of the three diagrams that

January, 2005, and made a similar series of the rising moon from the
southern hemisphere. In the table below, select the path that you

Physics Photo of the
published weekly during the academic year on Fridays by the Warren
Wilson College Physics
Department. These photos feature an interesting phenomena in
the world around us. Students, faculty, and others are invited to
submit digital (or film) photographs for publication and
explanation. Atmospheric phenomena are especially welcome.
Please send any photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
