Founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging and maintaining excellence in scholarship, Psi Chi now has chapters at over 1,000 colleges and universities, and over 500,000 members.  The organization’s motto, Psyche Cheires, can be translated as “cooperation in the investigation and cultivation of the mind”.

Psi Chi provides us a great opportunity to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of students in the psychology department, to engage in service-learning with our community, and to promote professional growth through conferences, internships, research grants, and award competitions.

Any student declared as a major or minor in the Psychology Department may be eligible to join Psi Chi if they fulfill the following requirements:

-       Second-semester sophomore status

-       Completed at least 9 credits in the psychology department at WWC

-       Overall GPA that ranks in the top 35% of their class

-       Psychology GPA of at least 3.00

Although we’re a brand new organization, we’ve got big plans for the spring...

-       First, we’re planning an induction ceremony and reception to welcome all new members.

-       Second, we’d like to help out the Special Olympics Aquatics programs with the swimming event that they’ll be holding on campus Saturday, April 2nd.  Check back here and in your inbox soon for more information on both events.

-       Finally, if you’ve got ideas for projects or events you’d like to Psi Chi to get involved with, let us know!
