III. The Sights and Smells of Thailand

Lotus Flower

Long after one returns home from Thailand the memories of the sights and smells linger in the mind, regardless of whether or not any pictures were taken. The colors of the temples and the flowers at the base of the Buddhas, the texture of the sticky rice, the smells of exhaust while walking down the streets of Chiangmai or Bangkok all become lasting impressions, imbedded upon the senses. For me, nine categories of sense experience stand out in my mind. Click on any one of these to find out more about what it actually feels like to be in Thailand.
