Crew Description
4 students - Students on the RISE Crew (RISE=Respect, Intervention, Safety, and Empowerment) will be engaged in a variety of prevention education and awareness/outreach efforts addressing healthy relationships and consensual sex. The crew also does work dealing with sexual assault, interpersonal violence (IPV), stalking and sexual harassment. Some past student outreach and education projects include: creating zines (on a range of topics like consent, healthy relationships, healing from sexual violence); providing service and support to area non-profits (Helpmate, Our VOICE and Pisgah Legal Services) and campus partners; organizing the Clothesline Project, Rock for Consent, and Take Back the Night; developing programs including guerilla theater, writing workshops, and other art-based initiatives; and leading other sexual health and relationship related education programs and workshops for the Warren Wilson community. In addition, RISE crew provides advocacy and support to students who experience sexual assault, IPV, stalking and harassment. Students do not need to know anything about sexual violence or relationship violence to join the crew; however, students must be willing and ready to learn about these issues. Training and support will be provided to the crew throughout the year. Persons of all gender identities, races, ethnicities, religious affiliations, sexualities, etc., are encouraged to apply.
