WWC has been committed to service since it began as the Asheville Farm School. In 1959 the faculty affirmed their belief in service as a part of the Warren Wilson College experience for students and in 1960 the first service requirement was put into place. In 1969 the first quantitative requirement was put into place and it has had that focus since growing to the current 100 hours. Along the way, service has been blended with coursework and various papers or presentations have been required.
