Please join us at Food for Thought- From a Student’s Perspective, an informal luncheon sponsored by the Service-Learning Office. This luncheon is an opportunity to engage in conversation with students, faculty, and staff about perspectives on service-learning courses. It is an opportunity to share ideas, discuss best practices and challenges, ask questions, and offer feedback.
Are you new to service-learning or interested in furthering your understanding of service-learning? Join us for an exploration of the basics of service-learning including methods and models, benefits and challenges as well as strategies for effective reflection and community partner development. A packet of activities and resources will be provided to help you get started.
Do your students have difficulty engaging in discussion and/or critically reflecting about their service-learning experience? Do you find that getting students to work effectively in service-learning groups is a challenge? By looking at service-learning through a developmental lens, you will learn how to assess student readiness and design an appropriate curriculum that will support student achievement of your goals. Workshop is designed for classroom instructors.
Are you interested in what it takes to serve as a staff/faculty leader on a Break Trip? If so, attend this Lunch & Learn to learn about "ins and outs" of Break Trip Leadership, meet with experienced Break Trip leaders, and brainstorm ideas with other insterested faculty and staff.
