Environment at the State level
Western North Carolina Alliance empowers citizens to be advocates for livable communities and the natural environment of Western North Carolina
- WNCA supports a number of initiatives. One of these initiatives is All three for NC-Clean Air, Clean Water, Good Jobs.
- All three for NC hopes to counteract the belief that communities must chose between a healthy safe environment and business or job opportunities.
- WNCA is active with policy around Public Lands, Water Works, Transportation, and Development.
Why it Matters
- The North Carolina State budget for environmental works was cut 12% last year and there is an additional 22% cut proposed this year.
- When funding is reduced people lose their jobs and less environmental monitoring is performed.
- North Carolina legislators can't make short-term decisions that will have long term impacts such as reducing environmental monitoring.
