MANNA FoodBank's Mission is to involve, educate, and unite people in the work of ending hunger in Western North Carolina
MANNA works on policy and advocacy at the State level because the State Farm Bill funds many nutritional assistance programs.
This legislative year, there is a proposed reduction to the farm bill of four billion dollars.
"Across the US, 1 in 8 people received food help from a food pantry, soup kitchen or shelter served by a Feeding America food bank, while the WNC data shows 1 in 6 sought that help."

Why it Matters
31% of the individuals served by MANNA in 2010 were children.
36% of households seeking emergency food assistance do have at least one employed adult.
Food and Nutrition Services (food stamps) are funded by State money and strengthen local economies while promoting food security.
