Working to make policy change in public schools is at times best done through state level organizations and campaigns because the public school system is a state funded and run entity. Attending school board meeting at any school is a great way to familiarize yourself with the ways individual schools make policy but there will be many things set at the state level in public schools. It is important to note that many policies and institutions affect the quality of life young people experience. Local level work on issues of food security and housing and homelessness can be another way to create policy that fosters a world that young people can thrive in.
