The Youth and Education issue area is geared towards working with tutoring and mentoring programs for K-12. Students are able to bond and work closely with children from selected schools and youth programs in the Asheville/Buncombe area.

Issue Workshops

This Issue Workshop will be focusing on Education Reform. We will be taking a closer look at the differences and similarities of Public Schools & Charter Schools in their efforts to improve public education. We will work in collaboration with Hall Fletcher Elementary and Artspace Charter School for our direct service. Participating in an issue workshop helps you cover your PEG 2 requirement. It provides you with a total of 25 hours of service, which will break down to 16 hours of direct service and 9 hours of education. Participants will choose from one of two service times: Mondays 8:30-10:45 or Thursdays 2:30-5:30 (these include travel time). Educational program meetings will take place on Wednesdays during dinner, 5:45-7:00. For more information please contact Amanda at awilson.f12@warren-wilson.edu
