How to Get and Stay Involved

There are lots of ways to get involved with service! Use this website as a tool to both explore your interests and also discover connections.

The Service Program Office (SPO) organizes service trips and provides educational programming around the five issue areas listed on the left.  In each area there are weekly service trips, issue workshops, educational events, and policy/advocacy work.

We maintain interest lists in each area and email notices of upcoming opportunities to students on those lists.  You can sign up on interest lists at the Sign-Up-to-Serve event that takes place in the beginning of each semester, by stopping by the SPO or by emailing one of the crew members listed on the issue area page.  Another way to keep up with opportunities is to check the service Calendar on this site regularly.

If you are interested in issues like Sexual Assault/Relationship Violence, Health and Disabilities, Animal Welfare or others, attend the Sign-Up-to-Serve Event and check out the Other Issues page and our Calendar to find out about opportunities.  We do have regular trips in these issue areas lead by students from other crews. You can also explore service on your own with a community partner in any area and we can help you to make that connection. Check out our Agency Directory or come by the office to talk with a crew member about options.

Fall Break and Spring Break are also great times to do service. You can participate in alternative Break Trips by applying to join one of the trips organized by fellow students OR you can create a Break Trip with the guidance of the SPO! Click on the Break Trips link to see what past trips have looked like and how you can be involved this school year.

Service can also be done with classes, work crews, and dorms! Service is a great way to get to know the people that surround you here at Warren Wilson while also making a difference in your greater community.
