Staff Body: Recognition Status

Staff Body is recognized for the 2009-10 academic year as a standing committee of Staff Forum. This came to pass after several years of proposals, surveys, and meetings by Staff Body leadership and members. On June 8, 2009, President Sandy Pfeiffer notified the campus community with this announcement:

Regarding the recommendation to have Staff Body serve as a standing committee, I've informed Staff Forum leadership that I've accepted the recommendation on a one-year trial basis--that is, as a "pilot" project--to start the beginning of the new fiscal year next month. Because we may be reviewing our on-campus governance system at some time this coming year, I hesitate to make permanent changes until we've conducted such a review. As well, because it's unusual to have a standing committee with such an all-inclusive membership, I think it's important that we scrutinize how this new broad-based committee will improve governance in the year ahead. Next spring I'll solicit opinions about results before deciding how to proceed. Regards, Sandy
