Student Life Work Crew

The Student Life crew is comprised of 2-3 students who greet visitors and primarily serve Dodge House staff by directing visitors to offices in Dodge House and across campus. Dodge House offices are comprised of the Dean of Students, Housing and Residential Life, Career Services, Academic Support Services, Educational Access, Diversity & Multicultural Initiatives, Spiritual Life and RISE. Crew members report to the administrative assistant to the Dean of Students and assist the directors for Housing and Academic Support Services. Student Life crew members are asked to serve a one year commitment.

Duties include providing guidance to Dodge House visitors and assisting with general office tasks which include scheduling of Dodge conference room, mail delivery, campus errands, and support for campus events such as Orientation, Family Weekend/Homecoming, and Commencement. Crew members also provide support for Testing Services and assist with such communications as email, answering phones, the Student Life website, and the Student Life newsletter. Additional duties include cleaning of designated areas in Dodge House.

Absolute confidentiality, discretion and a professional demeanor are a must as well as knowledge of campus resources. Crew members should be at a sophomore level or above, be self motivated, have good interpersonal, communication, and computer skills, and enjoy working in an office environment. Crew members gain experience working with a diverse group of people and situations and develop strong customer service and event planning skills as well as a working knowledge of all aspects of the Student Life division.

Julie Tyson
My name is Julie Tyson and I am a 49 year old transferring junior here at WWC. I have lived most of my life in eastern North Carolina and have returned to school to pursue a career as a chaplain. I am a Sociology/ Anthropology major with a concentration in Gender Studies. I live on campus in one of the "rabbit hutches" and have brought my dog, Henry, with me to school. We are both adjusting to campus life and you will see us walking and getting to know our way around. I enjoy music, camping, gardening, and meeting new friends. I chose Warren Wilson because of the campus culture and the location. I am enjoying my time here and looking forward to all that lies ahead.
