It used to be true that obtaining a high school diploma was enough to land a job. Similarly, those who were fortunate enough to earn a college degree were almost guaranteed employment. As we progress further into the 21st century more and more employers are seeking candidates with "real world" experience, because those candidates require less training and are able to step in and fill voids immediately. The experience you acquire as a part of your work crew can provide an edge up as you transition from college to workplace.
