Web Projects

My application to warren wilson was a webpage on a CD. As a result, I got plopped right on the web crew at the start of freshman year. This crew has been immeasurably beneficial to me. Not only are my hours flexible, but I now have time to learn new, useful skills such as coding PHP or asynchronous javascript. Below is a list of some of my web projects. Beware that many are still in a stage of development.

Please note that these websites were developed on a Mac and some (especially older ones) are likely to display incorrectly in Internet Explorer. For best viewing experience, please use FireFox.

PIX 2.0

An image hosting website -- uses jQuery to provide interface functionality similar to a normal file browser.

Inside Page

The new Warren Wilson inside page. Still under development, this website has heavy use of AJAX scripts, making it interactive in many ways never before seen on the WWC website. Click the help button in the top left-hand corner of the page for more information on how to use all of the new features!

Bennett Whipple Paperhanger

This is a commissioned website for Bennett Whipple, a wallpaper hanger. I made the logo as well as all of the page graphics (excluding the little phone icon which is built-in to photoshop) and coded the page.

AquaTECH

A website I made for my friends' aquarium cleaning service. This site made good use of my SDFramework and helped me beef up the libraries. Not only does the back end of this site allow administrators to edit pages and upload images for the gallery, but users can sign up and use this site to make appointments online. The admin section has tools to manage appointments made and to block out times where appointments should not be made. The extensive AJAX calendar will even color-code days based on their availability for appointments.

Row4Water

A service project I did for Katie Spotz's journey across the atlantic. This was the foundation for my SDFramework version 2.0. It allowed me to rapidly deploy a simple, yet dynamic website which incorporated a content management system that allowed Katie to change any/all of the page content at will. The row is still scheduled to happen; check it out!

WWC Online Student Union

A project currently under development, projected to be a collection of online resources for students. Currently it is essentially a web forum that allows students to post and vote on issues related to this school. Unfortunately, no one at my college actually cares so this project is my most depressing failure. However, coding it taught me a lot of things and I am happy to have had the opportunity.

Numerica

A website I developed to visualize and explore the relationships between numbers. Many of the tools are made in PHP. The number array also uses a lot of Javascript.

VoteDex

My first commissioned web project. This is actually a web application for compiling voting records for the Virginia State Legislature. It automatically downloads and parses pages from the Virginia Legislative Information System (LIS) and stores them neatly into a database (called a record). These records are stored to the hard drive and can be output as CSV. There are other neat features such as a Time Machine which allows you to restore older versions of the record.

PIX 1.0 (Personal Image eXchange)

This is a simple image hosting website. It allows users to store images on the web and organize them into galleries. This was my first ground-up PHP application. It served as the original foundation for my SDFramework which really set the rhythm for most of my future projects. I did not incorporate session variables, or MySQL databases. Instead I stored everything to files. The up-side is: low overhead, easy install. The down-side is: low security, slow access of information. Eventually PIX will be upgraded to support more efficient PHP and data storage technologies.

Michael Bergamo

This was my first PHP project. It was constructed with CodeIgniter as a foundation and provides a fully-featured content managment system for my friend's music, photos, and thoughts.

Starfield EP

In 2005 my dad bought me 10 hours of studio time as a high school graduation present. This is the product and a simple website I created to promote it.

CowFight Productions

Started in 1998, this was my first real website. It has gone through many evolutions and failed upgrades, but exists today as a memorial to a retired Mac security software programming team (which was really mostly my work, but also included a good program called ZapAttack by alpha). I hope to evolve this website into a topsite page with some new features which will give it additional functionality...
