I was born and raised in the hills and beaches of Southern California. In college I quickly gravitated toward economics, history, and political science courses because I am fascinated by how humans organize their world and govern themselves. After a stint working professionally in California state politics, I went back to graduate school to explore more deeply what I saw in practice everyday. I was happy to begin my academic career at Warren Wilson College, and I have come to love living in Western North Carolina almost enough to make me forget SoCal beaches. Almost.
