Where Is It?
On the main level next to the staff mailboxes.
Who Can Use It?
The Media Lab is open to all users whenever the library is open. Reservations are not required to use the lab, but priority will always be given to users who have reserved specific machines for specific times.
What’s Inside?
Big computers, a TV for presenting, and a satellite Sound Lab!
At Station #5, we’ve got an M-Audio Oxygen49 MIDI controller paired with PreSonus Studio One software.
All of the machines are loaded with the typical Mac software as well as a variety of media and data science-focused applications:
- Final Cut Pro
- Studio 1 Prime
- Blender
- Audacity
- Inkscape
- R
- RStudio
- QGIS + GRASS
- Python
- GIMP
- Hoboware
- QLab
- MuseScore
The Media Lab is a grant-funded project made possible by funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
