My Story

I grew up mostly in Oregon, but have lived in a dozen cities (Berlin, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Ankara, New York City, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Ithaca, Brookline, Schenectady and Trinidad) in the last three decades.

Since my days as student-activist in Eugene, my employment with the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Columbia University, and through my current research into the dehumanization underlying genocide, I have strived to address historical injustices and to understand the systems that create them.
