My Story
Bob Strain began playing piano at age eight in Texas. He holds a BA in music from Shepherd University and a master’s and doctorate in piano performance from Shenandoah University Conservatory in Virginia, where he taught piano and theory for 10 years. He has served as music director for shows at the Contemporary American Theater Festival (We Are Here), Hendersonville Community Theater (Guys and Dolls), and as rehearsal/pit pianist for Sunday in the Park with George, The King and I, and Nunsense II.
He currently teaches piano at Warren Wilson College and at Asheville Music School, and gives occasional recitals in local venues as well as jazz performances as a soloist or with the Bob Strain Trio and other ensembles.
