There is a straight-forward way to sort through your numerous options and focus your college selection process: visit.
Plain and simple, visit your top college choices as soon as you can. We hope we might be one of them!
At Warren Wilson, we want you to visit so you can see for yourself that the College is NOT for everybody, but for a select few.
We seek out students who will take full advantage of our triad approach to education--we want you to visit classes, watch our student work crews in action,
and learn about our service opportunities. We want students who connect with our setting the Swannanoa Valley, amid the peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Students who have a commitment to the environment, not just in word but in deed, through service, work, and action. And, students who respect the beliefs of others,
no matter how different those beliefs might be; tolerance is an important tenet at Warren Wilson, where diversity embraces more than color and religion.
That's what we want in a student. If that's what you want in a college, then please visit us soon.
It is best if we have at least one week notice so that we can plan the best use of your time during your visit. While it is possible to visit with less notice, we may not be able to schedule everything you would like to see and do.
Asheville is serviced by the following:
USAirways
Delta
Continental
and by Greyhound Busline.
If you must cancel your visit, or if you are running late, please call. We can alert everyone we had scheduled you to meet. Rescheduling visits is no problem.
Be sure to call us before you schedule your Airline reservations.

You can review the following list of possibilities for ideas.
High school seniors interested in experiencing an overnight stay at the College may be hosted by a student. We cannot guarantee a host, but we will do our best to find you one. If a host is not available, you may (depending on availability) overnight in the guest house or a “show dorm room.” If you wish to spend the night, you should feel comfortable exploring on your own and mingling about campus. Our campus is very friendly with plenty to do, and our dorms and guest house are centrally located.
Hosting is a possibility Jan-March 8 and March 19-May 2. Hosting is available for students — parents and family should plan to make arrangements nearby (and can spend the evening enjoying Asheville!) Please make sure to request a host by phone well in advance of your visit. Plan to be here by 4:00pm to meet your host around 4:30 for dinner. If you are spending the night in a dorm room, bring a sleeping bag and expect to sleep on the floor.
Due to the busy nature of our students with academics, work and service, we do not offer a “day host/shadow” program, but the Admission Office will be happy to take you on a tour, suggest classes that you can observe, or provide other interesting ways to learn about Warren Wilson.
The best time to visit Warren Wilson is on a weekday when school is in session. The months of March and April are accepted students' months, but we welcome your visit anytime.

Warren Wilson College also hosts two Open House days a year for prospective students, one in November and one in July. Information about Open House Days is mailed well in advance, or it can be obtained by calling the Office of Admission, 1.800.934.3536.
Open House registration
The least desirable time to visit is when the College is not in session. Warren Wilson has a week long break on or near the third week of October, a month long break from the third week of December through the third week of January, and a week long break on or near the third week of March. The summer break is from mid-May through mid-August. However, what's important is that you visit. If these times are the most convenient for you, then please don't be discouraged, whether or not classes are in session, we would still rather that you have a tour and speak with an admission counselor, than not seeing our campus at all. There is always the possibility that you may visit again when classes are in session.
Please read the information on parking here.
NOTE: The Asheville area is a very popular tourist destination, so we strongly recommend reservations. Rates may vary with the seasons. If you call them directly for a reservation, make sure you ask if they offer a Warren Wilson visitor discount AFTER they quote the first price to you.

The Asheville area has a large number of bed & breakfast and resort hotels. You can call the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau at 828-258-6102 for more information.
If you or your family find the cost to visit our campus is prohibitive, please contact our office. At the very least we may be able to offer advice on airport options and discounted hotels, or even where to buy the cheapest gas. For accepted students we may be able to help you even further as we delve into financial aid and scholarship options.
If you have any questions regarding your visit, please contact the Office of Admission at 800.934.3536.
