Every fall, WWC students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit photographs from their travels abroad. The photos are displayed anonymously, and the Warren Wilson community has a chance to vote for their favorites.
Senior Caroline Duble, sociology/anthropology major, won Best Intercultural Photo for her photograph taken in Bali, Indonesia. The photo shows bathers at the fountains of the Holy Water Spring (Tampak Siring). Caroline studied abroad focusing on Thai language and cultural studies at Warren Wilson’s partner institution, Payap University in Thailand last semester. In addition to exploring Thailand, Caroline had the opportunity to travel to neighboring nations including Indonesia.
Senior Danielle Landy, sociology/anthropology major, won Best Landscape Photo of the petrified waterfalls “Hierve el Agua” in Oaxaca, Mexico. Danielle participated in an International Honors Program through the School for International Training last year. She studied anthropology, globalization, and political science while traveling in Mexico, India, Tanzania, Turkey, and New Zealand.
Senior Grace Hatton, creative writing and art majors, won the People’s Choice Award for her photograph of a newlywed couple in front of the John Lennon Wall in Prague, Czech Republic. Grace studied abroad in the Czech Republic last summer through the USAC Prague program focusing on alternative culture and travel photography.
