The International Programs Office sponsores semester and year-length study abroad programs and WWC faculty-led short-term study abroad courses in a variety of academic disciplines. While it is often the case that short-term study abroad courses are repeated in subsequent years, the focus of each course always depends on faculty leadership and student interest.

Qualified students have the option of participating in faculty-led, short-term study abroad courses or semester or year-length study abroad programs. Short-term study abroad courses include a semester of coursework, class meetings and orientation sessions on campus prior to departure for the off-campus sites. Travel may last an entire term (eight weeks), but most study abroad courses are designed to fit into students' summer or winter break schedules with a shorter travel segment of two to three weeks. Most short-term study abroad courses are 2 or 4 credits. Students are required to return to campus the semester following travel to complete projects, reflect on their experiences, and share their observations and stories with the community.
The International Programs Office also offers a number of more selective semester or year-length study abroad opportunities. This challenging and exciting option provides more intense cross-cultural learning and immersion. Warren Wilson College currently offers semester or year abroad opportunities in China, England, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Spain, South Korea and Thailand.
Once students reach junior status (60 credit hours), they are eligible to participate in study abroad. Students must also be qualified in terms of GPA (at leat 2.5), credit hours and specified prerequisites or language abilities. All Warren Wilson study abroad programs require payment of a $75 application fee and have an associated program fee that typically ranges from $500 to $5,000, depending on travel costs, length of time abroad, and other factors. Academic credits and subjects vary. Transfer students and space-available participants should note additional charges.
