Beloved Community Lecture Series (Black History Month Edition) featuring Sounds of Afrika

Warren Wilson College is hosting Sounds Of Afrika for an African drum and dance performance.

Program: Beloved Community Lecture Series (Black History Month Edition) featuring Sounds of Afrika
Presented by Warren Wilson College (DEI-Initiatives)
Date: February 11th
Time: 6pm-8pm (doors open at 5:30pm)
Location: Kittredge Theatre
Description: Sounds Of Afrika will perform African drum and dance choreography from their repertoire. They will introduce their program Drums 4 Life which explores “hands on healing” through drumming and dance. The Director, Kojo Bey, will also share lessons from his recently published book, Jembe Revolution: The Birth of the Jembe in America. Participants will learn how Sounds Of Afrika has not only studied this art form for years but also has taken it on as a way of life. SOA aims to stimulate the audience holistically…spirit, mind and body.
