10/21/24 Update:

Warren Wilson College will welcome students back for in-person classes beginning October 28. Read the full message from President Fernández announcing the return to campus at www.warren-wilson.edu/helene.

10/14/24 Update:

We are delighted to share that a major milestone in the College’s recovery was reached: power and water services have been restored. The City of Asheville Water Resources reports that the water is safe for laundry, showering, handwashing, washing dishes and flushing toilets.

Online classes will begin October 21. Our goal remains to resume in-person classes the week of October 28 with a move-in date of Sunday, October 27.

Original Story:

While the sights and sounds of contractors working to bring campus back to normal brings us hope, we are missing our students. All 750 students are safe and accounted for, as well as all staff and faculty. While our campus did sustain damage, including multiple trees on buildings, flooding of some buildings, and extensive flooding of our farm and garden, we are incredibly grateful that we are all safe and that the damage on our campus is relatively manageable. The same cannot be said for our surrounding communities of Swannanoa and Asheville. For those looking to help the wider community, the WNC Helene Resources Facebook page provides daily updated lists of areas and organizations in need.

The resilience and strength our students have shown is truly inspiring. They were quick to help after the storm, and we were once again reminded of just how special the Warren Wilson community is. We look forward to the day our water and power is restored and we are all reunited on campus.

For prospective students, please know that we are still accepting applications for Spring and Fall 2025! We are in the process of recovery and will be stronger than ever on the other side.
