Get into Warren Wilson early and meet some of your new classmates on one of these pre-orientation adventures!

All four of the Pre-Orientation trips have a cost that includes meals, transportation, a free t-shirt, and activity costs (galleries, camping fees, and social group activities around town, etc.). All selected participants would move into their actual campus room on Thursday, August 15, 2019 in the early afternoon. Each program begins with dinner that evening and concludes on Monday, August 19 in the evening. All incoming students then will fully participate in the mandatory Orientation program which runs from Tuesday, August 20 – Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Each program has an application process and the links are provided below. Students are encouraged to apply for more than one program as space is limited in each program. Deadline for each program is July 1, 2019 and selected participants will be notified in early July. Alternates will be selected and informed closer to the August arrival date if space opens up.

Outdoor Adventures – 2 options, $350 each

Are you interested in seeing Western North Carolina before the rest of your classmates? We have an Outdoor Adventure trip just for you!

After moving onto campus, unpack and settle into your room. Then meet with the other participants and student leaders to get to know each other – try out our climbing wall.

Now you need to choose the trip that’s right for you:

Backpacking and Climbing Adventure: The quintessential Western North Carolina outdoor experience. Set out for a wonderful hiking, waterfall, and climbing adventure, where you’ll form strong connections to the beautiful Pisgah Forest and your new classmates.

Lake Santeetlah Paddling Adventure: Enjoy a great mix of paddling, recreation, relaxation, and a short day hike in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. The lake is great for swimming and there are some rocks to jump off if you’re keen. At the end of each day, there will be plenty of time at camp to relax, enjoy good food, conversations and activities. The memories gained on this trip will last a lifetime!

We ask that participates have a moderate level of physical fitness in order to help carry canoes or a full backpack as needed (approx. 50 pounds). There will be hot days and pleasant nights while seeing the beautiful, and challenging terrain in the Western North Carolina mountains.

Space is limited to 12 folks each, so don’t delay! Questions, contact Bruce Hills at bhills@warren-wilson.edu or Tacci Smith at tsmith@warren-wilson.edu
