My Story
I first came to Wilson as an undergrad, and am overjoyed to return to teach! At WWC, I took classes at the Swannanoa Women’s Correctional Center through the Inside-Out Program and decided to pursue graduate school to study incarceration. After graduating in 2019 with a degree in Sociology/Anthropology, I moved to Albuquerque and then to St. Louis to pursue my Master’s and PhD in Sociology. I am currently finishing my PhD through Washington University in St. Louis. My research focuses on incarceration in Appalachia, using historical methods to understand how mass incarceration took root in the region.
Ella SiegristI love that Wilson emphasizes experiential and applied learning. It is incredible to work with students who draw connections between intellectual work, tangible skills, and impact in their communities.
