My Story

My journey to Western North Carolina began after I graduated from the University of Massachusetts and traveled down South in search of old-time fiddlers and bluegrass jam sessions. I found exactly what I was looking for in the welcoming community of Asheville, NC, and have been here since 2004. My first experience with Warren Wilson College was through the Swannanoa Gathering, a week-long immersive summer music program on campus. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful scenery, working farm and garden, and unique opportunities for students. The College has supported my myriad musical interests from traditional American music to Jewish klezmer music. I perform in the band, Zoe & Cloyd, with my husband, John Cloyd Miller, who is also an instructor here at Warren Wilson.

I love how music constantly fills the air at Warren Wilson College, whether it’s a songwriting class in the amphitheater, a marimba outside of the percussion studio, the full voices of the choir down at the pavilion, or the rhythms of the West African Drum ensemble.
