My Story
I’m a fourth generation Outdoor Educator in the Swannanoa River Valley. My great-grandparents led groups of youth on camping trips up the Mt. Mitchell toll road starting in 1907, through Blue Ridge Assembly YMCA conference center. I love working at Warren Wilson because of the connection to and reverence for land that all the departments foster, because I’m surrounded by traditional music, and because I get to participate in a small, vibrant, student-centered Outdoor Leadership/Adventure Programs department. I maintain a number of professional certifications, including Wilderness EMT and Leave No Trace Level 3. When not working at WWC, I instruct for NOLS Wilderness Medicine, and served as a trainer for their instructor training in 2026. I work in the summers as a Program Supervisor and backpacking instructor for NOLS Alaska. I am currently all-but-thesis on a M.S. in Outdoor and Environmental Education through Alaska Pacific University.
