Real Food, All Day

Gladfelter is the main dining hall for campus, and meals are served from 7:15 in the morning until 9:00 at night. You can visit as many times as you’d like for a meal or quick snack! The college dining service focuses on running the most sustainable food service possible.

Some of the features of the dining program in Gladfelter include:

  • Delicious, hot, home-style entrées that frequently use beef, pork, and eggs from the Warren Wilson Farm and fresh herbs and vegetables from the Garden.
  • Salad bar featuring fresh produce from the Warren Wilson Garden, house-made cold salads, and homemade salad dressings using regionally grown, GMO-free Canola Oil.
  • Deli sandwich bar with locally baked all-natural breads, and a pizza bar are available every day to give you extra options!
  • Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available.
  • Beverages include a rotating selection of iced water lightly flavored with fresh fruit or cucumber, Aspretto Fair Trade Coffee, and Rainforest Alliance Certified Teas.

Committed to Real Food

As the result of a student-driven effort, Warren Wilson was the first college in the Southeast to participate in the Real Food Challenge Commitment. The national Real Food Challenge seeks to ensure that by 2020 at least 20 percent of college and university food purchases will be in the category of “real food”: local, sustainable, humane, and fair in trade. The Warren Wilson agreement joins our existing Sustainability Commitment and aims for at least 40% real food by 2020 — doubling the national challenge. The Local Foods Crew continues to monitor food purchasing to ensure we meet out goal!
